Exprmntl 4 Knokke

EXPRMNTL 4 KNOKKE documents the experimental film festival that took place in 1967/8 in the Belgian seaside resort of Knokke. In addition to excerpts from the film program, they show protest actions by Harun Farocki, Shirley Clarke, Holger Meins and others, as well as students from the HfG Ulm and the DFFB and underground filmmakers from the US. The film captures loud debates, but also the electrifying atmosphere that made the festival so legendary and such a decisive impetus for independent film in Europe. We will screen a new restoration and the film will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Bert Rebhandl.
